xfaForm

A complex data type that you can use as the value of the Input Form Variable and Output Form Data properties of the assignTask operation that the User service provides. The xfaForm variable is used for storing a reference to a form and storing the associated form data in XDP data format.

The variable properties enable you to specify a render and submit operation:

• The render operation merges the data and the form, and transforms it to a specific format, such as PDF or HTML. The render operation also sends the transformed form to a web application or servlet (such as Workspace ES) that delivers the form to end users to open in client software (such as Acrobat and Adobe Reader (PDF format), or web browsers (HTML or Flash format)).
• The submit service processes the data that end users submit after they fill the form.

A default render and submit service is provided for handling PDF forms, and sends them to Workspace ES as tasks. (See Render Service and Submit Service.)

xfaForm variables hold the following information:

• A reference to an XML form (an XDP file or a PDF file created in Designer ES) that resides in the repository.
• Form data that was gathered using the form (or to use for prepopulating the form).
• (Optional) The schema of the form data.
• Details about the render service that is used to process the data before sending to the client application such as Workspace ES.
• Details about the submit service that is used to process the data after it is returned from the client application, such as Workspace ES.
