Using forms in processes

In LiveCycle ES, users participate in processes through the use of a form. The forms approach is often used for capturing or displaying data. For example, in a loan process, a form might be used to capture contact information, mortgage request details, and user financial information for use in process. Before you can complete a design for a human-centric process, you must have a form for the purpose of capturing data from the user.

Note:   If you have an existing form you want to use, you must add it to the LiveCycle ES server using the Resources view. (See Creating folders and resources.)

With the User service, you can use these types of forms in a human-centric process. Each type of form must be modified to be enabled to function in Workspace ES:

When both the User service and the Forms service is available on your server, you can also use Adobe XML forms in human-centric processes. Adobe XML forms, which are saved as an XDP file, can be rendered as HTML forms, PDF forms, or form guides (provided that a guide has been created for the form). Before a form can be used in a process, you must add form objects to it. For information about preparing a form for use in a process, see "Preparing Forms for LiveCycle Process Management ES" in LiveCycle Designer ES Help.

You can also use different and multiple forms in your process; although, you can only configure one form for each Assign Task operation. In circumstances where you use multiple forms, it is recommended that the forms share an identical data schema to store the data. This helps to facilitate the ease of passing data between operations in a process diagram.

It is important to understand that activated processes will always use the most current version of the form available on the server. Therefore, when you modify a form on the server where the process is activated, you do not need to update the process.
