Adding, implementing, and deleting activity elements

Add an activity element when you do not know which operation to use but would like to model steps in your process diagram. You can add a name and description to an activity element to describe the functionality that is required and then, at later time, you can replace the activity element with an operation. This has the effect of changing the activity element to an operation and you can no longer change it back to an activity element.

You can delete any activity elements you no longer require.

To add an activity element:

  1. In the Modeling Elements view, select Core Elements. A list of tools appears.
  2. Drag the Activity element A rounded box with a purple outline. The inner of the box is empty. to a swimlane in the process diagram.
  3. (Optional) In the Properties view, click the General category and provide a name and description:
