Adding form instructions to your form design

Now, you will add text to your form design to provide instructions or communicate what happens after a form filler completes the form. You will also provide instructions for the person who approves or declines the mortgage.

To add instructions to your form design:

  1. In the Object Library palette, in the Standard category, drag the Text object onto the form design and position it below the logo.
  2. Double-click the text and, in the Designer ES editor's toolbar, perform the following tasks:
  3. With the text still selected, type After you complete this form, one of our representatives will contact you within two business days..
  4. In the Hierarchy palette, right-click Text1, select Rename Object, type AppInstructions, and then press the Enter key.
  5. With AppInstructions still selected, in the Layout palette, perform the following tasks:
  6. Select Palettes > Border. The Border palette appears in the bottom-right corner.
  7. In the Border palette, in the Edges list, select the default Edit Individually.
  8. In the upper border and lower border lists, select Solid.
  9. Select Edit > Duplicate. A copy of the instructions appears slightly below the original copy in the form design.
  10. In the Hierarchy palette, right-click AppInstructions[1], select Rename Object, type RepInstructions, and then press the Enter key.
  11. With RepInstructions still selected, in the Layout palette, perform the following tasks:
  12. On your form design, select the text in the RepInstructions object and type For Fin@nce Corp. representatives: Indicate if the mortgage is Approved or Declined and contact the applicant..
  13. Save your form design.

Tip:   You can also use the arrows keys on your keyboard to position the selected object in your form design.

You have added form instructions to your form design. Your form design should look like the following illustration.

The language in the RepInstructions textbox should be updated to reflect the end-state.

You are correct. The second (duplicated) text box should contain the text "For Fin@nce Corp. representatives: Indicate if the mortgage is Approved or Declined and contact the applicant."

Thanks for pointing this out.
