You create an archive file as the first step in exporting processes and resources from one environment to another. A single archive may contain as many processes and/or resources as required.
If you intend to import your archive into a system where you have already imported an earlier version of the process included in the archive, make sure that the process version and name have changed. On import, the process with the same name and version is considered a duplicate and is not imported, which may result in an error when the process is run. For example, assume that you originally imported process A 1.0 and its sub-process B 1.0. Later, you modified process B and changed its version to 2.0, and modified how process B is invoked, but you did not change the version of process A. Reimporting process A will fail because process A 1.0 already exists on the system. However, sub-process B 2.0 will be imported. Thus, when you run process A on the new system, it will fail because it does not contain the updates required to invoke process B.
The following user permissions are required for creating an archive file:
To include processes in the archive, the user must have Service Read and Service Invoke permissions.
To include resources in the archive, the user must have Repository Read and Repository Traverse permissions for the resource being exported, and Repository Traverse permission for the parent folders.
Note: When locked resources are added to a LiveCycle archive (LCA), lock information is not included in the archive.
Selecting components
The following rules apply when selecting processes and resources:
To make a selection, click the box beside a component that you want to select. A check mark appears in the box. To deselect a component, click the box again. The check mark will be removed.
A shaded box marks the components selected implicitly.
Selecting a process category automatically selects each process type within the category.
Selecting a process automatically selects the latest version of the process. You can manually select earlier versions of the process.
Selecting a resource folder automatically selects all the files and folders contained within it.
Processes and resources that are selected automatically cannot be deselected individually.
To select several processes or resources at the same time, click the name of the first process, press Shift, and click the name of the last process in the selection block (or press Ctrl and click individual names). Then click the box beside one of the marked process names.
To create an archive file:
Using Workbench ES, log in to the server where the processes and resources exist.
Select File > Create LiveCycle Archive.
Select Create An Archive File and click Next.
(Optional) In the Archive Name box, type the name for the archive. The box is prepopulated with the words "NewArchive" followed by a date and time string to ensure it is unique. This name is displayed in LiveCycle Administration Console when you import the archive.
(Optional) In the Archive Description box, type a description for the archive so that others will know what its contents are. A default description specifies the date and time of the archive creation and the name of the user who created the archive.
In the Local File System Destination box, specify the file name and location of the archive:
If you specify only the file name, the archive will be saved in the [install directory]/Adobe/LiveCycle ES/Workbench ES/Workbench directory, where [install directory] is the location where you installed Workbench ES.
If you want to save the archive in a specific location on the local or network system, either type the fully qualified path and the name or click the ellipsis button
to browse to the location and specify the name of the archive.
Note: You do not need to specify the file extension .lca. It will be added automatically to the file name.
Click Next.
(Optional) Select processes to be included in the archive file. See Selecting components.
Note: Only the processes that are activated are displayed in the list.
Click Next to preview the list of processes that will be included in the archive file or click Finish to save the archive file without viewing the list.
If you did not select any processes, clicking Next will take you to the Resource Selection panel.
In the Archive Preview panel, review the list of processes that are included in the archive file.
For each process, the list specifies the process version and whether the process was selected explicitly (by you) or is included implicitly because it is a dependant of one of the selected processes. A check mark in the Implicit column indicates that the process was selected implicitly.
Click Next to add resources to the archive file, or click Finish to save the archive.
(Optional) Select resources to be included in the archive file. See Selecting components.
Resources required by the processes selected in the Processes Selection panel are automatically included in the archive and cannot be deselected.
Click Next to preview the list of the selected components to be included in the archive file or select Finish to save the archive file without previewing the list.
After reviewing the contents of the archive file, click Finish to save the file.
The archive file is saved in the specified location. You can use LiveCycle Administration Console to import it into another server. See "Managing LiveCycle ES Archives" in Applications and Services Administration Help.
