The most common configuration tasks for the Data Management Service are defining destinations, applying security to destinations, and modifying logging settings. For information about security and logging, see Security and Logging.
You configure Data Management Service destinations in the data-management-config.xml file. You can also dynamically configure services by using the run-time configuration feature; for more information, see Run-time configuration.
A Data Management Service destination uses an adapter that provides the infrastructure for interacting with data resources. The two adapters included in LiveCycle Data Services ES are the ActionScript object adapter and the Java adapter.
The properties available for a destination depend on the type of adapter you use. For example, when you use the Java adapter, you can configure source, scope, and other properties.
You specify data adapters in a destination. You can also specify adapter-specific settings. For general information about adapters, see Key concepts of data management.
