PDF documents can contain file attachments consisting of any type of data. The data in these attachments (also referred to as embedded files) is separate from the page content and other document information. Any external file can be attached to a PDF document. Once attached, it can be extracted to an external file.
• Document-level attachments are associated with the document as a whole and are identified by name.
• Page-level attachments are associated with a particular page in a document and do not have names. These are also referred to as file attachment annotations.See the PDF Reference for more information.You use the FileAttachments and NoFileAttachments elements to specify information about the file attachments in a document.
