Hiding the JMC

Retail customers use the JRun Management Console (JMC) to administer the installation and configuration of JRun and change settings, such as thread management and data source access.

As an OEM, you have different uses for the JMC:

You might include the JMC but hide it from users, make it available for remote or on-site support personnel, and use other JRun and Java tools for editing the JRun configuration files.
You can use XMLScript or the JMC custom tag library to modify the XML files that define the JRun configuration. For more information on using JRun tools to edit the XML configuration files, see Chapter 9, "Editing XML Files".
You might exclude the JMC from the installation. In an embedded environment, where you want users to be able to change the configuration, but are not using the JRun interface, the JMC is not the appropriate solution. You can remove the JMC from the installation. For more information, see Chapter 2, "JRun Installer Overview".
