The Java 2 SDK, also called the Java Development Kit (JDK), consists of the JRE plus the following tools and core classes for developers to compile, debug, and run applications on the Java platform:

To install JRun, you minimally need a JRE version 1.3.0 or later on your computer. However, to take full advantage of all JRun capabilities, install the Java 2 SDK version 1.3.0 or later.
