Fun With the bit.ly API (Killing Time Until iPhone 3G)
Update: Ryan gave me the go ahead to post it. Get the AIR app here. I've enabled view source, so you should be able to check out the code if you'd like. I saw several posts today about a promising new URL shortening service called bit.ly, which looks like it could quickly replace some, most or [...] (translate)
Amazon Kindle and my reading habits
About 3 weeks ago, and after weeks of giving it a thought, I bought meself an Amazon Kindle and I am loving it! It just fits under my reading habits I think of meself as someone with a concentration disorder. I can't be more than 10min into something without getting easily distracted by anything that goes along me surroundings or the web - got to confess I'm subscribed to over 600 blogs and counting, and just as it is the source to my knowledge it also is the source of most of my distractions. It's always been like that and (translate)
Flash-Flex Integration, Part 7: Coding With Flash Components in Flex Builder
Sometimes, when you're coding a Flex application, don't you just wish you could use a Flash animation, right there? And in Flash, don't you sometimes wish you could use that one class in Flex, or that one component, which would make your life so much easier? It is at such times that a developer encounters the limitations of their tools, be it in Flex or in Flash. This series aims to explore the possibilities inherent in an integrated Flash-Flex workflow, bridging the gap between the two technologies, enabling a greater range of development options. In the last article, we looked at (translate)
Building Click-and-Rotate Content in Flash - Part 3
In one implementation of the QuickTime VR format, known as QTVR Object Movies, the user can click-and-drag an image to seemingly rotate it, as if spinning the real-life object on a lazy Susan. This simulated 3-D interactivity can improve multimedia curb appeal, and makes for a nifty way to showcase merchandise. But it doesn't stop there: the same basic principle can also bring click-and-drag responsiveness to short video sequences and even user input widgets, such as click-and-scrub input fields. In Part 2, of this series, we continued our exploration of the Flash version of a QTVR Object Movie that rotates (translate)
Look ma, I'm speaking at Max. Thanks, Adobe. :-)
Well, I got an email from Adobe today confirming that I'll be speaking at the Adobe Max conference later this year in San Francisco. Of course I'm delighted and very happy to announce it. A couple of folks had pointed out to me last week that I was listed on the site as a speaker, but I was waiting for confirmation before announcing it (just seemed prudent). Anyway, I certainly thank the powers that be at Adobe who selected me. I mentioned in a note last week that I'd had the pleasure to speak at 5 other conferences earlier this (translate)

Check Layer 1 first
I was working at about midnight the other night when I heard my little VPN app scream that it'd lost connection.. I noticed that I couldn't get out to my favorite site and checked my DSL modem.... the status light was off. So the next morning I got up and saw it was still off. I called the DSL provider, we went through the standard power off/on stuff and the regular checklist and the guy in India said he'd overnight a new modem (it still hasn't gotten here..). A little while later I remembered something from my CCNA 1 class… (translate)
My CFUNITED 2008 Video
I finally got my video clips all edited down in iMovie. After finding out the FLIP doesn’t play well with iMovie, I was able to get a workaround done up and here it is for your viewing pleasure! (translate)

Your Office: Fun or Functional?
If you’ve ever seen pictures of the crazy work environments at Pixar or Google you’ll notice that most offices/cubes are cluttered, but people obviously get a lot done there. Well, IZEA decided it was time to bring a little of that creative clutter into the office and is having it’s own cube design content — [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Your Office: Fun or Functional?", url: "http://www.adamfortuna.com/2008/07/08/your-office-fun-or-functional/" }); (translate)
