culd you please make the complete help for Flash 2004 again availible to use in a stand-alone version for browser on my own computer and not on

http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flash/mx2004/main_7_2/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?href=Part_ASLR.html ?

The helppannel in 2004 is not usefull, especialy wen you write your cde in an externel editor like Primalscript or Eclipse.... then you always have to switch to flash if you whant to get Help.... in Flash 6 the simple hml standalone Version was realy very helpfull.

Thanks

You can download a resource manager from here:

http://www.markme.com/mesh/archives/004700.cfm

It allows you to view Help externally. HTH.

Just as a matter of interest, what's the problem with looking at the livedocs in a browser? Personally I prefer them here, and I think it will be especially useful as the comments make it a more valuable resource than the static help files...

Just my two cents.
Macinflash said on Oct 4, 2004 at 2:20 PM :
For the simple fact that when on the road or with low bandwidth
internet access, livedocs are not practicle...
No screen name said on Oct 11, 2004 at 10:07 AM :
reasons for livedocs not being usable:

1. i have to enter flash-livedocs multiple times until it has successfully loaded the js/x-frame/icons-mess
2. it still generates js-errors very often while using it and then the whole page has to be reloaded
3. why isnt it using flash, anyway (at least for the nav-frame). the whole mm site surely does.
4 it is slow!

100 % Agree!
It's unusable due to pile of errors and so much slowwwww....
Why do not use flash? A?
wayfarer_boy said on Oct 18, 2004 at 8:49 AM :
I agree with Jason, the comments are a welcome addition to the online Flash manual.

I can also sympathise, however, with justVersus & anon about the speed, and the ridiculous method of coding... When most open-sourced projects have had such a fantastic set of online documentation for many years now (php.net for one - just check out the pages and pages of comments, help, advice, demo code etc) it's a shame that a multi-million dollar corporation such as Macromedia have only just introduced the ability to leave comments, and have done it in such a lack-lustre way.

It almost feels as though they don't really want their users to explore and contribute, which I'm sure isn't the case.

wayfarer_boy, justVersus, No screen name, and Macinflash,
What browsers are you using? I'm familiar with the
initial-page-load performance problem, but this is the first time
I've heard of JavaScript errors.

Also, please be assured that we (the writers in the various
Macromedia documentation departments) are
*extremely* interested in your comments. We have deployed
LiveDocs for ColdFusion, Flash, Dreamweaver, Central,
Director, and JRun and are continually using LiveDocs
comments to update docs for the next release.

I'm using Firefox (latest release - erm, 1.0 something something) on a 1.33 17" Powerbook. The help page takes roughly 20-30 seconds to load, and i've had a few problems keyword searching, which can take up to 40 seconds to complete.

Are the docs still being updated at all...? There still seems to be various references missing, for example I did a search on Accessibility.sendEvent but had no results returned. Or are these purposefully undocumented?

MM, have you guys ever taken a look at the Eclipse browser-based help?
That's what i call usable. The LiveDocs are ultra slow and buggy.

I have been searching for a while for this, and this looks like as good a place as any to ask.

Is there official Macromedia documentation on the various mx.* classes, such as mx.xpath.XPathAPI and mx.transitions.Tween? I have found tutorials on macromedia.com, and bits and pieces on other sites, but I am looking for actual, complete references, and cannot find anthing in Help or in the PDFs that came with Flash MX 2004 Pro.

Thanks.

I often have problems accessing livedocs with Safari on a Mac, Both OS X 10.3 & 10.4. The ability to comment is a must that makes me try to access them though!
wayfarer_boy cited the example of php.net, which has a great help/documentation/comments area which is of great use, and is at a standard Macromedia are hopefully aiming for.
