You can save a Flash FLA document using its current name and location or using a different name or location.
When a document contains unsaved changes, an asterisk (*) appears after the document name in the document title bar, the application title bar, and the document tab. When you save the document, the asterisk is removed.
Save a Flash documentTo overwrite the current version on the disk, select File > Save.
To save the document in a different location and/or with a different name, or to compress the document, select File > Save As.

Save documents when quitting FlashIf saving a Flash 8 file in CS3, is there any way to disable the "This file will be converted from a Flash 8 or older format" message without having to "Save As" every single time?

Yes. You can go to Edit > Preferences. In the Warnings section, deselect "Warn on Save for Adobe Flash 8 Compatibility".Richard Barber said on Mar 18, 2008 at 9:36 AM :
Thanks, although it's worth noting that if you do this, the file is just silently saved in CS3 format - not Flash 8. There doesn't seem to be a way of round-trip editing a Flash 8 file in CS3 without always using 'Save As'.pairodimes said on Jun 20, 2008 at 12:49 PM :
This is really annoying - Is there a way to save my Flash document in it's native file format without doing doing a SAVE-AS and Replacing my orginal Legacy Flash Document?ceone said on Jul 16, 2008 at 6:21 AM :

There is no way to specify that Flash CS3 save files in the Flash 8 format by default. You must select File > Save As, and choose "Flash 8 Document" from the Save As Type menu located at the bottom of the Save As dialog box.
