What is the purpose of "menu colors"? I can't find reference anywhere.

When you choose Edit > Menus, you can change the color of menu items (or hide them). This preference option lets you turn off the menu colors you've specified.

On the photoshop, the outside canvas has turned into black.
It is usually transparent.

How can i get it back to the default transparent background?
