Change the scratch disk assignment

  1. Do any of the following in the Scratch Disks area of Performance preferences:
    • To change the scratch disk order, click the arrow buttons.

    • To enable or disable a scratch disk, select or deselect the Active checkbox.

  2. Click OK.
  3. For the changes to take effect, you will need to restart Photoshop.

Hi , i have been trying to change my scratch disk on photoshop form my
hard disk in my computer to my external hard drive. i was wondering if it is
possible and if so how is it done because i have tried everything but it
doesn't seem to work..
the arrow up down button is unlghted or dimmed button.
it doesnt detected my other harddisk.

The help sections reads:

To change the scratch disk order, click the arrow buttons.

However, I don't see any "arrow buttons". Please advise.

To ensure optimal performance, only locally installed drives are available as scratch disks. If you have only one local drive, the buttons for changing scratch disk order are unavailable.
