Photoshop CS3  |  Go to CS4 Help

Adobe Help resources

Documentation for your Adobe software is available in a variety of formats.

In‑product and LiveDocs Help

In‑product Help provides access to all documentation and instructional content available at the time the software ships. It is available through the Help menu in your Adobe software.

LiveDocs Help includes all the content from in‑product Help, plus updates and links to additional instructional content available on the web. For some products, you can also add comments to the topics in LiveDocs Help. Find LiveDocs Help for your product in the Adobe Help Resource Center, at www.adobe.com/go/documentation.

Most versions of in‑product and LiveDocs Help let you search across the Help systems of multiple products. Topics may also contain links to relevant content on the web or to topics in the Help of another product.

Think of Help, both in the product and on the web, as a hub for accessing additional content and communities of users. The most complete and up‑to‑date version of Help is always on the web.

Adobe PDF documentation

The in‑product Help is also available as a PDF that is optimized for printing. Other documents, such as installation guides and white papers, may also be provided as PDFs.

All PDF documentation is available through the Adobe Help Resource Center, at www.adobe.com/go/documentation. To see the PDF documentation included with your software, look in the Documents folder on the installation or content DVD.

Printed documentation

Printed editions of the in‑product Help are available for purchase in the Adobe Store, at www.adobe.com/go/store. You can also find books published by Adobe publishing partners in the Adobe Store.

A printed workflow guide is included with all Adobe Creative Suite® 3 products, and stand‑alone Adobe products may include a printed getting started guide.

I am working on a PC with duel core quad 2.4 processors. This machine has 4 gigs of ram and a video card with 640 MB DDR3 memory. This system is also running Windows xp Professional x64 Edition. I have loaded Photoshop CS3 extended and we are experiencing low performance. We have checked the bios and tried increasing the memory alowance. Can you suggest alternative configuration or any suggestions why this system is performing so slow.

I have been using Photoshop CS3 with no problems on my G-4 running
Tiger. I also have Lightroom, Dreamweaver, Indesign, Bridge CS3, etc.
suddenly i can not open anything in Photoshop. I can still open or import the
same images in Lightroom, Photoshop 7, etc. I read about the print dirver
issue and deleted my print drivers in the print utility and removed my 3rd
party plug-ins. It opened one file and then locked up again. Can I delete and
re-install since I purchased on-line version? Will that help?

Please help. I am trying to download photos from FOTKI, and place them in my ADOBE 3 starter edition folder. I do not know how to do this directly. FOTKI allows me to download to the desktop. When I import the file to ADOBE, it places the picture in the ADOBE catalogue, but it cannot be seen on the "home" screen with all of the photos. I can only see and print the picture if I know the file name, and search through the "find" option.
I have not been able to move the picture to the file with all the pictures, because I get an "already in catalogue" message.
Please let me know how I can place the downloaded picture in the ADOBE folder with all of the pictures. Thank you, laurarr.randall@gmail.com

When using 'Actions' in PSCS3 several times I've gotten a message saying 'command not available'. Since the software IS installed I'm confused as to why those commands would not be available since they should already 'BE IN' the Action. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and how I can correct the problem?

For example I wanted to use a Water Ripple action and I was told that the 'ripple command' wasn't available. Why isn't it available? I'm at a loss on this. Thanks in advance for any help!

When using PSCS3 some of the filters are not available when you are in the 16 bits/channel or higher.
Try this; 1. Go to "IMAGES" > "MODE" , and select 8 bits/channel.
That will make all filters available. If that doesn't work,
2. Try checking your Layers to be sure you are working on the correct layer.
3. Always be sure your "SELECTION TOOL" is in the DE-Select. function.

Good Luck.

I just recently purchased a new computer, and at the same time upgraded from PS CS2 to CS3. I have an Intel Quadcore 9400 processor--2.67GHRTz, with 4 Gigs of RAM. For a week or so, I had no problems. Now, when opening files in ACR, I get a message that I can open no more than 200 files at a time. Also PS is freezing up almost constantly. For instance: I'll be making an adjustment to an image, click on the next on, and nothing happens. The program will just freeze, and I have to do a cntrl/alt delete to shutdown PS. I am also getting a message when trying to save files, that "there is not enought memory". When I have to shut down the program, of course I lose all my corrections. BYW
