The collection feature does not seem to work. I can create quick collections but cannot seem to drag photos in grid view into an existing collection. Am I supposed to right click or something? Directions just say "drag."

You must first create a collection. You can't drag photos to the empty Collections panel. To create a collection, click the plus sign to the right of the Collections panel name.

I did have a collection but I now see what my problem was. I was clicking on the border of the picture rather than directly on the picture. It won't drag unless the curser is right on the picture.

I was feeling pretty stupid not being able to drag the photos to a
collection. It's easy when you click where you're supposed to.

I also tried dragging using the border and assumed the feature was broken. I hope a future version of the "Getting Started Guide" will specify that the photo itself needs to be dragged. Page 21 says only that "you can add additional images by dragging them onto the Collection name."

It's the same when you've selected multiple photos. I thought I had to drag them one at a time, but you can select several and drag them - as long as you drag it from the picture, not the border. They could have been clearer about this, I agree.

OK, I've tried clicking in the picture, not the border, and I still can't add pics to a collection. When I drag the pic and start to drag it turns into a little thumbnail, looks good. When I drag it over "Quick Collection" it highlights, the thumbnail gets a little 'plus' and looks like I can drop it in there, but when I let go, nothing happens. When I drag the selected pic over a collection I created, the thumbnail jumps back to the grid view...

Any help? I'm using LR 1.2 on Mac OSX.
