Preview or view a summary of booklet printing

The Preview area of the Print Booklet dialog box lets you review color thumbnails of the printer spreads created by your selected imposition style. You can also see the printer’s marks you’ve specified in the Print dialog box.

  1. Choose File > Print Booklet.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Click Preview on the left side of the dialog box. To flip through the printer spreads, click the scroll arrows. Click the left scroll arrow to go backwards from spread to spread. You can also drag the scroll box to change printer spreads.

    • Click Summary on the left side of the Print Booklet dialog box to view a summary of current booklet settings. Check the bottom of the Summary area for any conflicting settings.

If you click Print Settings and change the settings in the Print dialog box, you can observe the effect of the modified settings in the Preview area.

This must apply to Indesign CS3, because it sure doesn't apply to CS2.

Right, this is CS3 documentation.

When making a booklet in CS3, can you save the document after it has been imposed?
Bob - Adobe Writer said on Mar 20, 2008 at 12:22 PM :
Unfortunately, the answer is no.

I am printing a booklet. My understanding is CS3 will impose it automatically, correct? My booklet is not coming out imposed. Any suggestions?

Being able to save an imposed document (InDesign 2) was an incredibly
useful feature. I am not able to print duplexed from the computer on which I
create the booklet and being able to transport a pdf was wonderful. What do
I do in InDesign CS3?

The version on CS3 doesn't seem to be as useful as the one on CS2.
Occasionally I need to print just one spread, but I can't figure out how to do
this with the new version. Can anyone advise?

And I agree, it was nice to export the printer spreads as an additional InDesign
file.

Being a professional printer, I found that it is critical to be able to print
individual spreads with the pages imposed.

I have not figured out how to do this in CS3. Since I go direct to plate and
sometimes have to output a new plate, the print to booklet function is only
useful the first time I produce plates. If I have to make a second plate
because of any plate problem, I have to be able to print only one spread. If
someone has figured out how to do this, please pass it along.

The Print Booklet option adds blank pages in the wrong places. In a
saddle-stictch 2-up, with an even number of pages, InDesign should not
be adding ANY blank pages.

Read the instructions in the "Printing booklets" section, and then ask a more specific question.

Hello Adobe Writers -

Is there a plug-in available yet that we can use to make impositions and then
edit those impositions?

This is getting a little frustrating...
