The CSS Properties tab

The CSS Properties tab displays the properties of the currently selected rule in the CSS Styles panel (Window > CSS Styles), Code view (View > Code), or by double-clicking a rule or property in the Relevant CSS tab (Window > Tag Inspector).

Note: The CSS Properties tab is only displayed when you select a rule in the CSS Styles panel, when you select a rule in Code view, or when you double-click a rule or property in the Relevant CSS tab. To return to the Relevant CSS tab, select a text element in an active HTML page.

The CSS Properties tab lets you easily see the a rule's property settings, as well as providing a quick way to modify any CSS style either embedded in the current document, or linked via an attached style sheet. The editable grid lets you change the values for any of the displayed properties. Any changes you make to a selection are applied immediately letting you preview your work as you go.

You can choose to display the properties either as an alphabetically arranged list, or as property categories by clicking the Show Category or Show List View buttons located in the upper left corner of the CSS Properties tab.

Category View divides the Dreamweaver supported CSS properties into eight categories: font, background, block, border, box, list, positioning, and extensions. Each category's properties are contained in a collapsible list that you expand or collapse by clicking the plus button next to its name. Properties within each category are sorted alphabetically, with set properties sorted to the top of the list displayed in blue text. Category view is the default view.

List View displays all of the Dreamweaver supported CSS properties in descending alphabetic order, with set properties sorted to the top of the list displayed in blue text (see the following illustration).
