Macromedia Contribute combines a web browser with a basic web-page editor. It enables your colleagues or clients to browse to a page in a site that you created, and to edit or update the page if they have permission to do so. Contribute users can add and update basic web content, including formatted text, images, tables, and links. Contribute site administrators can limit what ordinary (non-administrator) users can do in a site.
Note: Most Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 users who connect to a Contribute site are site administrators; this chapter assumes that you are a site administrator.
Before you give Contribute users the connection information they need to edit pages, you should perform various site-setup tasks in Dreamweaver. Then, you can export your site definition information as a connection key, a file that Contribute users can use to connect to the site.
Note: This chapter assumes that you understand how to set up a Dreamweaver site. For more information, see Setting Up a Dreamweaver Site. If you are setting up a dynamic site to use with Contribute, see Administering Contribute Help in Contribute for more information.
You can connect to a Contribute site using Dreamweaver and you can modify the files in the site just as you would in any Dreamweaver site.
