Insert an image from the Assets panel

  1. Click once inside the center column of the three-columned table (the first table cell that is colored light tan).
  2. In the Property inspector (Window > Properties), select Center from the Horz pop-up menu, and select Top from the Vert pop-up menu. This aligns the contents of the table cell in the middle of the cell, and pushes the cell's contents to the top of the cell.

  3. Press Enter (Windows) or Return (Macintosh) once to create more space.

  1. Click the Assets tab in the Files panel, or select Window > Assets.

    Your site assets appear.

  2. If Images view isn't selected, click Images to view your image assets.
  3. In the Assets panel, select the street_sign.jpg file.
  4. Do one of the following:
  5. Click once outside the table to deselect the image.
  6. Save the page.

Hey,

I did the layout using tables and completed the tutorial by adding the content. Now I have laid out the site using CSS and the tutorial just ends!?!?!?

There are some differences in how to add content (graphics). For instance, adding the graphic street_sign.jpg to the center column. In table layout the property window lets me set to center so that when the graphic is added, it's centered. In CSS, I don't have that option in the property window.

If you CSS is supposed to be the preferred method of creating web sites, why don't you focus the tutorial on showing how to complete the site that way?

I am going thru the DW8 tutorial. I copied the Cafe Townsend folder to my "local_sites" folder. When I go to do the add image from the assets panel, I suddenly see duplicates of most of the images because there is a second copy of the images in the "completed_files" subfolder. This can be very confusing.

Yes, this was a bug we noticed after shipping the product. It is not really a bug, but more of an oversight on our part. The doubling up in files that you're seeing has to do with the same files being located in the different completed assets folders that also accompany the tutorials.

There's an error on the "Insert an image from the Assets Panel" page. In step 2 regarding the Property inspector, it says "select Top from the Vert pop-up menu." This should say "Bottom" instead of "Top." If you look at the image at the bottom of the page, you can see that the inserted image is supposed to be at the bottom of that cell, not the top. The top space in that cell must remain open to receive the inserted Flash video (flv) file.

Hi,

I also have returned to the "add content" section of the tutorial after creating the page by the "layers" method, and am having trouble with this. It would appear that the assets insertion behaves differently with layers than with tables, and I don't think this is addressed unless I am missing something. Can you help?

Thanks
