Insert an image placeholder

An image placeholder is a graphic that you use until final artwork is ready to be added to a web page. An image placeholder is useful when you lay out web pages because it allows you to position an image on a page before you actually create the image.

  1. In the Document window, click once inside the first row of the first table.
  2. Select Insert > Image Objects > Image Placeholder.
  3. In the Image Placeholder dialog box, do the following:
  4. Click OK.

The image placeholder appears inside the first table. The image placeholder displays a label and the size attributes of the image that you'll eventually place there.

  5. Save your page.

I tried presssing the create key to go to Fireworks. it keeps defaluting to
MX2004 even though I have Fireworks 8 on my computer. I put Fireworks
MX2004 in the trash and now the create button does nothing. How do I
make it work correctly?

If you bring up the Preferences dialog and choose the File Types/Editors category, you can change the Fireworks application by browsing to the FW8 version. This should fix the issue.

This issue may be answered later in the tutorial however the problem I seem to face are with images of different width sizes that need to place on an adjacent row. The Cursor populates in the middle of the Cell for the smaller image. Like I said, at this point this is a problem however I will read on to see if this is addressed.
