Not to descriptive.

I was wondering if Macromedia is going to continue support for CFScript since there is scant documentation on the subject.

I assume you are referring to the scant documentation on this introductory
page. Click one of the right arrows on this page, and on the pages that follow,
to see all of the documentation on cfscript.

People, we really gotta change the live docs navigation, I dont know how much more proof is needed that a ton of people don't get the arrow thing, but surely this is something easy to address that could clear up some confusion. It would seem that a huge percentage (I wont say majority, but a TON) of comments are people just not understanding the navigation.

Further more, it would seem a no brainer to release a flash version with an xml data storage backend for the next release. i.e. use the same version of docs with the product as with the live docs, fix the navigation, add searching (without the java applet).

A product is as only good as its support and documentation, with cold fusion perhaps being an exception since it rocks so hard - but it wont last if these annoying things keep people from learning it!

In reply to user NateNielsen, please do NOT make the documentation flash-only! I am one of those people that do NOT install Flash on my work computer, as I do not need all those flashy thingies going on while trying to get my work done.

If you DO decide on some XML-based backend, please make a non-Flash version for "the rest of us" to enjoy.

I think the biggest problem with the navigation is that you cannot "see" where the "next link" arrow goes. If it always goes to the next topic at the same level, that would be more consistent than now, where it sometimes goes down, sometimes across. I would appreciate the top-level links showing a list of sub-topics that could be navigated to with the arrows or clicking on the topic name -- like the list of CFML tags page, I use that page tons.

my comment would be that all of the pages on this subject (and others as i have gone through over the years) can be collapsed into a single page. Do you really need a whole page (which i have to navigate through to get to the next piece of content, not that i know what that content would be) just to display :

"This section explains the syntax of the CFScript language"

C'mon. Really. And i agree that documentation for cfscript is pretty thin.
