Permissions note: When you are installing JRun on a Windows machine make sure the user you are logged in as is a member of the local Administrators group for the machine. A domain administrator doesn't always have local administrator rights on a machine.

Not being logged on as a local administrator can cause the software not to be installed properly.

My guess is that you have a corrupt download file. Please try downloading again. If the problem recurs, I suggest posting your question to the online forums: http://webforums.macromedia.com/jrun

ErikYuzwa sent me an e-mail to say that the failure message was from an InstallShield problem related to "insufficient Component Object Model (COM) access permissions or an improperly set COM Default Impersonation Level". See this URL for more details:

http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108324

Sorry to say that I don't know the answer to your question. 1.3.1_01 is pretty old. I'd suggest trying a later 1.3.1 JVM or a 1.4.x JVM.

If that doesn't work, try posting your question to the online forums: http://webforums.macromedia.com/jrun
