I would like to know why we cant use the URLRequestMethod.HEAD method yet, since I can't use a Socket class to connect to ports under 1024 from a webpage I tried using this and still it doesn't appear to be possible (albeit fora totally different reason).

Can anyone suggest an alternative?

I just need to issue a HEAD request and read the reponse, remote host will be same as domain the file is running on.

Cheers

Toby

URLRequest() :

The following works:

var myRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest( "file.php?id=3" );

However the following fails:

myid = 3; // where myid is a string

var myRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest( "file.php?id="+myid );

Is concatenation of string variables not allowed in the argument of the URLRequest object?

'method' property allows only GЕT and POST requests. To upload files to WebDAV server PUT verb is required. It would be good to allow any types of requests. I do not see any reason to limit the types of allowed verbs.

Silverlight now allows any types of requests including PUT, PROPFIND, PROPPATCH, etc.
