Hi, I am trying unsuccesfully to create a remote sharedObject for a simple
chat, receiving the error: NetConnection was unable to invoke callback
onBWDone.

I have tried to set nc client to "this" and redefine onBWDone method, and in
this way it doesn't throw any error, but the chat don`t work. :(

Any clue?

The documentation under the "send" command states:
"To process and respond to the message, create a callback function attached to the shared object."

How does one create a callback function now in AS3?

I'm getting consistent crashes in AS3 when attempting to retrieve a Date from a local shared object, and that date property has not yet been created in the Shared Object (i.e., mySharedObject.data.thisDate == null). This is a problem when the flash file is run the first time...

The workaround is to change the default object encoding for Shared Objects to AMF0:

SharedObject.defaultObjectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0;

My reply to OutOfMemory's comment about the data object being read-only is that the object being read-only means that you cannot change the object. It does not mean that you cannot change attributes of the data object, which is what the example is doing.
The example which OOM gave would be the equivalent of setting private values in the shared object, which is not at all the same as setting publicly accessible values as attributes of the built-in data object.

Inetdog

Hi,

I just wanted to clarify an issue with SharedObject properties. When a SharedObject is created on the client side and a property is set (not persistent), shouldn't the Admin Console report that there is some data associated with that shared object? Is this only applicable for shared objects created on the server side?

Thanks.

In describing how to assign a value to a SharedObject instance, you use
the example:

so.data.highScore = new Number(1234567890);

However, in the SharedObject property list, you indicate that 'data' is
read-only.

I believe the correct way to assign a value to a SO in AS 3.0 would be:

so.setProperty("highScore", new Number(1234567890));
