Hopefully this will save someone else a headache:

The NetStream bytesLoaded and bytesTotal ONLY apply to progressive connections. If you are using a streaming (FMS) connection, these values will always return zero.

If you're looking to find out how far along the stream is, use the NetStreams' time attribute and compare it to the metadata's duration.

I've encountered a weird flash player behaviour when unloading bad FLVs.

Our server software is not perfect as its meant to be, and it has generated few broken flvs. With 9.0.115 we're now able to detect them with 'NetStream.Play.FileStructureInvalid' event, but it's pain to unload them... invoking NetStream.close is causing delay about 12 seconds (thats it, 12 000 ms) delay. Everything after it is going fine.

Something like this was few years ago with Mac player, when NetStream.close was invoked from within onStatus handler, but my case is different. Btw,

If I'm not closing NetStream and just stopping it with play(false), player will take its 12 secs on the its closing. Good FLVs are unloading just fine.

Is there someone already digged into this?

The description of the name parameter for the NetStream.publish() method states, 'If you pass false, the publish operation stops'.

This should say, 'If you call the close() method, the publish operation stops'.

Passing false behaves as described in AS1/2 only. In AS3, the name parameter is a String but false is a Boolean.

Calling NetStream.publish(false) doesn't ONLY stop publishing the stream. It stops publishing the current stream but only because it starts publishing a new stream called 'false'.

Does the onPlayStatus not work anymore?
The example code is confusing.

The metadata information gets sent to the CustomClient class, and then...what? How does the NetConnectionExample class retrieve this information for later use?

And how does the NetConnectionExample class know when the information has been received? Is there a way for the CustomClient class to tell the NetConnectionExample class, "I just received the data, here it is"?
