@Mete Atamel

There are a number of predefined Adobe methods that the client can respond to. For these, look at the events listed in the flash.net.NetStatus class.

The client object is the object on which the server looks to invoke methods upon. For example, if you want your RTMP server to invoke a method named "helloWorld" on a NetConnection, it will look for that defined method in the client object on your NetConnection. Likewise, the NetStream functions mentioned above are invoked upon the NetStream's client object. Also, all NetStream.send() and SharedObject.send() calls are invoked on a user's corresponding client object.

- TK

Need more explanation on the client property. Which callback methods can the client object respond to?

This example of using a CustomClient class as a callback handler was a great starting point. However, is there someplace with an example more substantial that to have the callback functions use trace? I'm trying to retrieve data in order to update the contents of a text field, but I get errors telling me that my text field is undefined. How do I "hook" the recognition of the handler into the .swf that's running so it can see the items on the Stage?

Thanks

Thank you, Zubaz!

He's absolutely right -- if you find yourself getting NetConnection.Connect.Failed errors trying to connect to Flash Media Server 2 using Actionscript 3, you need to add the line he mentioned above. I just wanted to confirm that the fix works.

If you inexplicably get connection refusals to FMS using AS3, try adding the following line before you create your instance of NetConnection. I imagine a new version of FMS is on the way, but FMS <=2 can't understand your AS3 stuff, so this sets it to AS2 mode.

NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding = flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF0;
