i remember seeing that there was a bug involving this. Think it will affect you if your sample rate is not at 44,100 ..

I am getting inconsistent results when setting the start time in Sound.play(time) in AS3.

On some files it moves the file 4 times ahead of where I asked. (i.e. if id wanted to go to 4000, it goes to 16000). The audioChannel.positiobn still returns 4000, but the audio is playing at the 16b second period.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bill

Is it possible to use the sound class on a streaming flv? Basically I want to use the soundChannel class to get the peaks on a stream but it does not seem possible to create a sound object from a netstream. I know in AS2 you could use attachAudio() to a blank movie clip and create a sound object from that, but apparently not in AS3..
Can someone please advise me if this is at all possible?
thanks

@no screen name
you can use the bytesLoaded and bytesTotal properties of the Sound's ProgressEvent:
private var pLoaded:Number;
private function progressHandler(e:ProgressEvent):void {
pLoaded = Number((e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal).toFixed(2));
trace(pLoaded);
}

hope that helps :)

The value returned by Sound.length seems to be dependent on how much of the sound has downloaded. How can I display a progress bar for a streaming mp3, using the position of the sound in milliseconds, if I don't have an accurate value for the total sound length?

Hi, i am developing a live-audio online aplication and need to program a
grafic vumeter in order to track the outgoing decibels of the audio signal.
I was searching into the sound class and its sub classes but it seems no
to be such a method (Sound.getDb()...maybe?).Do you know how can
achive this? If not, wouldn't it be a nice challenge for the people at adobe
to develope such a thing?It would open a whole new world in the music
industry such a thing.

best regards,

Alberto.
