There is a bug in DreamWeaver 8 for this tag. Select the tag (shift-F5) for editing and set the Action to CategoryList.

Whatever you put in the Name attribute on this dialog window will be ignored.

Whatever you put in the Collection attribute on this dialog window will be assigned to BOTH name and collection attributes of the tag.

The collection attribute of the cfcollection tag will never appear.

If you feel comfortable editing the DW configuration files, you can correct this flaw in DW8 by editing the following file:

<drive>:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\TagLibraries\CFML\cfcollection.htm

Find the line that has this text (Line 165 in my version):

Change it to this:

It is worth noting that the "language" really refers to the character encoding rather than the language itself. For example, Japanese encoded as UTF-8 is not handled by the "Japanese" language setting.

The value for language enabled by the Multilanguage Language Pack is actually called "uni" not "Unicode". This seems to be the correct option for any data with a Unicode character encoding.

Starting with ColdFusion MX 7, you cannot use the cfcollection tag to create alias names for already existing collections. Because Verity mantains all the collection information you cannot have two names point to the same collection.

this example of testing for the existance of a collection is flawed. If your collection was created and no records were added to it this code fails.

just use <cftry> and don't do anything with the catch
