Several Assessment Question Knowledge Objects have been updated to allow for import and export of question content stored in XML files that conform to the IMS QTI (Question Test Interoperability) version 1.1 standard. The following Assessment Knowledge Objects have been updated:
For details, see How to set up Assessment Knowledge Objects for QTI.
The IMS QTI standard is still evolving. For more information about the standard, refer to www.imsglobal.org.
Also check the Macromedia Authorware Support site at www.macromedia.com/support/authorware for updates and any late-breaking information about the IMS QTI support in these Knowledge Objects.
Note that all efforts have been made to conform to version 1.1 of the IMS QTI standard. However, QTI represents a syntax rather than a logic for question representation. Therefore, some XML authors might use different approaches to represent elements (such as scoring) that are used by the Knowledge Object to interpret choice judgement settings. Also, certain QTI features such as question and solution flows are not accommodated by the Knowledge Object.
Only a single question can be imported. The XML file must contain a single <questestinterop> element. If multiple <item> elements are found in the file, you are asked which one to import. Note that the item number is shown by the Knowledge Object wizard. The Knowledge Object does not import from files that contain <assessment> or <section> elements.
If you use the QTI features of Knowledge Objects, limit the QTI syntax in XML files edited manually or from foreign sources to the features shown in files exported from this Knowledge Object.
QTI Question files may be imported once or the Knowledge Object may be linked at runtime to the QTI file for dynamic operation. Note that all dynamically linked QTI files must match the "shape" of the authored Knowledge Object question in all respects: number of choices, which parts display media, the types of media shown, and so on.
The Knowledge Object wizard automatically copies the IMS QTI XML schema to your target folder. This makes viewing the exported files easier with Internet Explorer or other XML file viewers because the exported file references the schema on the local drive.
