Xtra extension installation

An Xtra file is different from an Xtra extension. An Xtra file contains the code for the Xtra extension that appears inside Authorware. An Xtra file can, in fact, contain the code for more than a single Xtra extension. For example, the Director transitions Xtra contains code for dozens of individual transitions.

For an Xtra extension to be available to Authorware, the Xtra file that contains it needs to be in the Xtras folder inside the Authorware application folder. The following Xtra files are on the Authorware CD are placed in the Xtras folder when you install Authorware:

To make other Xtra extensions available to Authorware, put the Xtra files that contain them in the Xtras folder before you start Authorware.

Note: Restricted users on Windows systems may not be able to place Xtra extensions in the Xtras folder.
