To react to special circumstances, you first set up the Xtra extension that will send the event and set up the interaction. Then you set up the event.
See Using a sprite Xtra extension and Scripting Xtra extensions.
See Adding text or graphics to an interaction icon and Setting interaction icon properties.
An icon attached to an interaction icon is called a result icon. The result icon determines what happens when an Xtra extension sends the event that you want to respond to. It's a good practice to use a map icon as the result icon, because that makes it easy to make changes. You can use any icon as the result icon; you must, however, place interaction, framework, sound, digital movie, and decision icons inside a map icon.
The Response Type dialog box appears automatically whenever you place a result icon to the immediate right of the interaction icon. If you place a result icon to the immediate right of another result icon, Authorware doesn't display the dialog box, because it assumes that you want to use the same symbol you last selected. If the Response Type dialog box doesn't appear automatically and you want to make changes to the response options, double-click the response type symbol to display it.
The Sender list displays objects that send events. If the object is created by a sprite Xtra extension, it appears in the Sender list as Icon Icon title. Icon title is the title of the sprite icon.
If the object is created by a scripting Xtra extension, it appears in the Sender list as Xtra Icon title. Icon title is the title of the icon where the Xtra object is created.
The Event Name list displays events that are sent by sprite and script Xtra objects. You can select any or all of the events that a sender passes.
Selecting an event automatically selects the event sender that passes it. Deselecting an event sender automatically deselects all the events that it passes.
