Link names

Authorware assigns a name to the link between a library icon and all the icons that it's linked to in a piece. The name that Authorware has assigned to the link appears in the Link Name column of the library window. You can see the Link Name column by clicking the zoom box in the upper right corner of the Library window.

It's useful to change a library icon's link name when you want to modify the contents of icons linked to a library in more than one Authorware file, not just the open one. For example, suppose that you want to modify the contents of a library icon that is connected to many pieces, while maintaining the original contents for occasional use. First, change the link name of the old library icon. Then assign the previously used link name to the new icon.

Changing a link's name breaks the link.
